San Francisco, CA; Vienna, VA – June 26, 2013 - Alarm.com and One Block Off the Grid ("1BOG") have announced a new partnership in which 1BOG will be integrated as part of Alarm.com's industry leading Connected Home platform, reaching hundreds of thousands of households in the U.S. The goal of the partnership, which is the first of its kind, is to help property owners who have an Alarm.com system lower their household energy costs and reduce their carbon footprint by making it easy to sign up for the best solar lease or purchase option available to them.
1BOG works with each potential solar customer carefully to advise them of the best possible way to go solar, taking into account factors such as location, energy usage, size of their house, and tax incentives available in their area. Alarm.com users will be able to connect with 1BOG's experienced solar consultants through Alarm.com's website and mobile apps to determine if their home is a potential candidate for a solar installation. Thanks to 1BOG's unique position as a one-stop shop for solar, homeowners can explore power purchase agreements (PPAs), leasing options, custom payments and pre-paid opportunities from the nation's top solar brands, knowing that the system they select will be integrated into the Alarm.com platform.
Once a homeowner goes solar, they can easily monitor their system. For example, information like the amount of power generated by the solar system will be sent to the Alarm.com platform and fully integrated with the customer's other Alarm.com services. Customers can log in through web and mobile to see their solar power production each day and compare that to their home's energy usage. Furthermore, customers who go solar with 1BOG's help can also enjoy the many other benefits of the Alarm.com platform, including sensor and video monitoring, light, lock and garage door control, and intelligent thermostat automation.
"We are very excited to expand our Connected Home platform to include solar," said Alison Slavin, Alarm.com Co-Founder and VP of Product Management. "We are always looking for ways to enrich the user experience and add more value to our offering. Solar not only helps customers save money on energy, but also has a very positive impact on the environment, which is something consumers increasingly care about."
"There are so many good reasons to go solar, whether it's to do something good for the environment, lower energy bills, or even protect yourself from future utility rate increases. We're excited to partner with Alarm.com to help over one million existing and tens of thousands of new monthly customers explore the opportunity to go solar from the comfort of their own app – no hassle, no pressure," said Chris Stern, VP of Business Development for 1BOG and parent company Pure Energies Group. "The dashboard that Alarm.com has built will incorporate solar power into a user-friendly interface that will allow the consumer to control and monitor their energy usage."
Alarm.com users interested in going solar can contact their authorized Alarm.com Dealer for more information about the program. The program will initially be offered in CA, AZ, HI, NJ and MA with more states to follow by the end of the year.
